EKbana Sports Day 2018
January 02, 2018 4m read
Another year has passed us by and that meant another EKbana sports day was on the cards. This year though late, it happened more like an end of year celebration and a team bonding exercise. Our team members have increased in size since the last sports day and with the spirit of competition to bolster our team cohesion this year, Sports day 2018 was planned.
With 8 teams sorted by the planning committee, the sports day were planned to encompass 2 days, the 29th and 30th of December. The 29th saw indoor games such as Table tennis, leg balloon blast, and thigh balloon blast. A more fun themed event was the goal of this year's sports day. The competition started at 9 am in the morning, we saw exhilarating table tennis matches and exciting and fun balloon blast games. Food and drinks were provided to nourish all. The table tennis matches were divided into male and female competitions, doubles and singles were played with the winners earning 5 points for their respective teams. The day ended with eager participants looking forward to day 2.
Day 2 saw outdoor games such as Futsal, 3 legged race, sack race, and marble- spoon race divided into male and female competitions. The Futsal games had to start early as they took a lot of time to complete individual matches. A round robin system between two groups was set up with 4 teams in each group. Winning a match provided 3 points, a draw 1 and 0 for any losses. The team with the top 2 points on each group further advanced to the semifinals. The competition was fierce, and the drive to win strong, a tough couple of matches later the winners emerged. The female teams were divided into 2 teams with the winner bringing in points for their teams. The overall winners once again gained 5 points for their team.
The three-legged race, sack race, and marble-spoon race saw fun and fierce competition with laughter, thrills and spills highlighting the competitive spirit of EKbanians. We do work hard, and as we all found out, play just as hard.
The Points were tallied up, the winner decided with a vast margin of 32 points Team Manaslu emerged victoriously and with a distant second with 22 points were the team Macchapuchre.
The award ceremony took place with winners earning medals for their victory and Team Manaslu lifting the EKbana Sports Day Cup.
Dinner was the next agenda on the list, after a hard-fought, tiring, yet fulfilling two days of fun and games nothing was more satisfying than sitting down and having a good meal with your team members and co-workers. The purpose and spirit of competition drive teammates to understand each other and creates a bond that we in EKbana have seen creates cohesion within the company. With Big thanks to the planning committee and organizers, another year of EKbana’s Sports day came to a close.
See you next year!
